The Language Laboratory, located in 102 Blaustein, supports the
foreign languages departments and
the Center for International Studies and the Liberal Arts (CISLA).
We also work closely with other College resources and programs to
advance the integration of new learning technologies into the liberal
arts curriculum.
The collection of audiocassettes, videocassettes, laser discs,
CD-ROMs and DVDs includes materials in Arabic, Chinese, Czech, English,
French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Latin, Japanese, Kiswahili,
Polish, Russian, Spanish and Vietnamese. Students may use audiocassettes
in correlation with departmental courses or for independent work
on listening comprehension and speaking skills. DVD, videotapes
and videodiscs in the collection include instructional programs
that correspond to course textbooks as well as feature films (with
and without subtitles).
In addition, televised news from over two dozen countries is available.
Computer-aided instruction in all the languages offered at the College
is also supported (Mac and PC available). Contact the Language Lab
(x2180) for more information.
