The Factory

Nikkei-Brazilians have been immigrating to Japan to work in the factories since the early seventies. Since then, Brazilian labor has been crucial in helping replace labor shortages in the town of Oizumi. A Flourishing industrial town, home to two major companies : Fuji Heavy Industries, the maker of SUBARU, and SANYO an electronic company, Oizumi recognizes the importance of foreign labor and has in the past and present welcomed Brazilian workers. Without the long hours that these immigrants put into the companies, often working double shifts, the factories would not have enough labor to operate at capacity.
